Dr Vera Somers is an OPTIMA Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Melbourne. Her research interests include control, simulation and optimization of complex networks and spreading processes, in particular bushfires and epidemics. Prior to joining OPTIMA, she was a PhD candidate at the Australian Centre for Field Robotics at the University of Sydney.
