OPTIMA Training: Commercialisation
Title: Preparing for technology transfer: the business model canvas
Speaker: Dr David Bergmann – South East Water
Summary:
The key to commercial success is putting the customer at the heart of the problem. The business model canvas is a template that takes the user away from a technology focus, and starts to get them to consider the broader context such as the customer value proposition, customer segmentation, channels, revenues and costs of a future business. This workshop will introduce the canvas, some examples (i.e. IKEA, Apple, Amazon, etc), and then get participants to apply the canvas to their projects. The outcome will be experience with using the canvas and a series of questions to take potential customers and partners to explore and refine research focus areas.
