AI-based Optimisation Seminar Series 11 May 2022
Speaker: Dr Rong Qu is an Associated Professor at the University of Nottingham
Title: Real-World Optimisation Problems – Modelling and Optimisation
Synopsis: Combinatorial optimisation problems appear in many real-world applications in management, organisation and business sectors. This seminar presents some research developments of evolutionary and metaheuristic algorithms for real-world combinatorial optimisation problems including transport scheduling, personnel scheduling, network routing and timetabling problems. Research issues discussed include the modelling, theoretical fundamentals and automated algorithm design for these combinatorial optimisation problems.
Bio: Rong Qu is an Associated Professor at the University of Nottingham. Her main research interests include modelling and optimisation with evolutionary algorithms, mathematical programming, machine learning in operational research and artificial intelligence, and hybridisations of these techniques. Dr Qu has been the associate editor at IEEE Transactions of Evolutionary Computation, Journal of the Operational Research Society, PeerJ, IEEE CIM, and Journal of Scheduling. She is an IEEE Senior Member since 2012 and has been the Chair / vice-chair of the Task Committee of Intelligence Systems and Applications, and several task forces at the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society.
