Title: Metaheuristics to solve NP-hard assembly line balancing problems
Designing and balancing assembly lines in response to customer-centric manufacturing requires solving an intractable mixed integer linear programming problem. Existing state-of-the-art software packages are not capable of solving these kinds of problems of a practical size, and metaheuristic solution strategies are inevitable. In this talk, I will present some recently developed metaheuristics for solving such problems.
