Professor Manuel López-Ibáñez

Manuel López-Ibáñez is Full Professor (Chair) of Optimisation at the Alliance Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, U.K. He received his Ph.D. degree from Edinburgh Napier University, Edinburgh, U.K., in 2009. He is Editor-in-Chief of ACM Transactions on Evolutionary Learning and Optimisation, Associate Editor of the Evolutionary Computation journal and Editorial Board Member of the Artificial Intelligence Journal.

He is a member of the Programme Committee of the International Centre for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS), Edinburgh, UK; the Research Committee of the Operational Research Society, UK; and the Executive Board of the Special Interest Group on Evolutionary Computation (SIGEVO) of the ACM society. Prof. López-Ibáñez has developed software packages with hundreds of thousands of downloads, such as the automatic configuration tool ‘irace’ and has published more than 100 papers in international peer-reviewed journals and conferences on topics that include stochastic local search, black-box optimisation, empirical reproducibility, multi-objective and interactive optimisation algorithms for continuous and combinatorial problems, and the automatic configuration and design of optimisation algorithms.
