Dr Chaitanya Manapragada

Chaitanya Manapragada is a postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne. He works in applied Machine Learning with the Digital Bioprocessing Hub, a collaboration between The University of Melbourne, CSL, and other industry and government partners. His primary focus is on optimising industrial manufacturing processes with the aid of effective predictors (surrogate objective functions) built using machine learning methods.
He received his PhD in Algorithmic Machine Learning from the Department of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Monash University, in 2021, for a thesis titled “Learning Under Concept Drift”. Work from the thesis centred on learning from data streams and was published at KDD and DMKD. Before the PhD, he earned a B.Engg (1st Hons) in Software Engineering and a Graduate Certificate in Cross-disciplinary Art and Design from UNSW. He spent several years as an engineer, first at NICTA (CSIRO Data61) and then at Blackmagic Design. Chaitanya works with OPTIMA CI Uwe Aickelin.
