Title: Modelling assembly line balancing problems

Synopsis: Assembly lines are flow-based production systems widely used in the manufacturing industry. Industrial assembly lines vary in terms of the resources available, the line layouts, and the characteristics of the tasks to be executed (among many other factors). In this talk, we discuss some optimisation problems associated with the efficient design and operation of these lines, focusing on the modelling aspects.

Bio: Alysson is an Associate Professor in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Melbourne and a Chief Investigator at OPTIMA. His research focuses on modelling industrial problems and proposing solution algorithms based on metaheuristics and mixed-integer programming.
