AI-based Optimisation Seminar Series 8 June 2022
Speaker: Dr Julia Handl is a Professor in Decision Sciences in Alliance Manchester Business School at the University of Manchester
Title: Multi_objective optimization in unsupervised learning problems
Unsupervised learning problems arise in a wide range of applications. I have long been interested in the ways that multi-objective optimization can be used as an instrument to provide more complete formulations of unsupervised learning problems and thereby support the design of effective approaches. My talk will discuss the design and evaluation of multi-objective optimization approaches for a number of related unsupervised learning challenges: cluster analysis, muti-view clustering and community detection.
Bio: Dr Julia Handl is a Professor in Decision Sciences in Alliance Manchester Business School at the University of Manchester, a fellow of ELLIS and the UK’s Alan Turing Institute. She has extensive research experience in optimization, machine learning, and operations research, and applies her research in application contexts ranging from biology & medicine over-engineering to business & management.
